The aim of the conference is an interdisciplinary analysis of the transformations occurring in the field of consumption under the influence of the dynamic development of artificial intelligence, algorithmic systems, and the automation of decision-making processes. The event provides a platform for the exchange of knowledge and experience between representatives of academia, industry experts, and practitioners, as well as a space for critical reflection on new forms of technological influence on consumer decisions.
In the context of digital transformation, market platformization, and the growing role of personal data, contemporary consumption is increasingly shaped by recommendation systems, content personalization, and microtargeting. Algorithms influence consumers’ preferences, needs, and choices, while also raising questions about individual autonomy, technological transparency, privacy protection, and the responsibility of entities that design and implement AI-based solutions.
Particular attention will be devoted to issues such as: the algorithmization of consumer decision-making, the impact of digital technologies on consumption patterns and sustainable development, the data economy, market platformization, the ethical and legal aspects of recommendation systems, and the protection of consumer rights in the digital environment.
The conference will include the following thematic sessions:
Session I: Artificial Intelligence and Sustainable Consumption: Technology in the Service of the Planet.
Session II: The Consumer in the World of Data: Between Freedom and Manipulation.
Session III: The Digital Economy of Consumption: Between the Market and Society.
Session IV: Consumer Law in the Digital World: Data, Decisions, Responsibility.
The central point of the event will be a panel discussion entitled “Who Programs Our Needs? Technology, Ethics, and Responsibility,” with the participation of experts in artificial intelligence, sociology of consumption, law, the e-commerce sector, and representatives of civil society.
The program will be complemented by two educational workshops:
